Pinterest Final: Civil War Timeline

There are several ways that you can integrate Pinterest into your own classroom. First, you can create private boards that only your class can post to and look at where you can post links to assignments.  You could create a specific board for just your class to use that would be open to get ideas from.  As a teacher, you can create boards to share between other teachers to gain new ideas for lesson plans or other classroom ideas. I think that a great way to use Pinterest in the classroom is to make an assignment through it for your students to follow because they don't even have to have a Pinterest to actually use the link provided.

The assignment that I created was a Civil War timeline. It was used to get students familiar with the start, end, and major events in the Civil War. This assignment could be used as a preview lesson leading into the Civil War.  I had to make and complete this assignment for my education technology class for college.  I didn't really have any problems with the assignment because the directions were pretty straight forward and not hard to follow.  I did learn a few things from actually doing this assignment about the different battles that I picked out, such as the Battle of Antietam being the bloodiest single day in all of American History. This would be a pretty good and easy assignment for students to do and actually learn something from because they would have to read a little bit while researching about the Civil War.

Step 1. Get a piece of paper and a pen/pencil and make a timeline for the Civil War. Make sure to give it a title.

Step 2:  Use the Computer, chrome book, or ipad to look up your information.

Step 3: Tell when the start of the Civil War was and where it was located at.

Step 4: Pick four major battles of the Civil War and put a small description of each battle, such as date, location, casualties, etc.

Step 5: Tell when and where the Civil War ended.
